Success Cases in Project Mngmnt

Projects highlights

CAD 4,000,000 system and hardware integration

  • Challenge: lead 3 companies in a hardware and software integration project.

  • Barriers: 3 different companies, different teams in the client (IT, operations, supervision, maintenance), tight schedule.

  • Results: we integrated sensors in 26 different substation power transformers and delivered 4 management modules of the software.

  • Summary: we managed to integrate different client teams into a unique project for online asset monitoring. The project demanded a joint effort to create a new area of expertise for asset monitoring. We faced a series of field integration challenges but overcame them all.

Ad agency branch opening

  • Challenge: open a new branch of an ad agency in a new city.

  • Barriers: competition, lack of commercial contacts, no team.

  • Result: in a couple of months, we managed to hire a new team and in six months the operation was self-sustainable.

  • Summary: I was invited to open and lead an ad agency's Rio de Janeiro branch initially from Brasilia. We hired a creative team and fought for the main account that could sustain the operation. Along the way, we got some smaller clients and increased the company size. Once the job was done, I became the creative director of both branches one year later.

Financial program management

  • Challenge: conduct financial registers and audits for the program Água Brasil, from WWF-Brazil.

  • Barriers: connect different environmental projects expenses.

  • Result: the accounts were continually updated accordingly to the demands of the sponsor company.

  • Summary: program Água Brasil was an initiative sponsored by the Bank of Brazil to support a series of environmental initiatives from different WWF-Brazil teams. To guarantee future financial contributions we had to keep constant track of 5 projects expenses. We did that keeping contact communication with the teams, planning ahead and performing financial audits.

Marketing event

  • Challenge: lead the participation of 3 companies in a marketing event (SENDI 2016) in São Paulo, Brazil.

  • Barriers: 3 different stakeholders, remote management.

  • Result: we presented the new solution to the market during the event gathering important prospects for future demo presentations.

  • Summary: We participated in an electrical market event to present a new software solution and structure partnerships with companies. At this event, we structured a booth with 2 partners to launch our FLISR (Fault, Location, Isolation and Service Restoration) solution to the electrical market. I was responsible for communicating with stakeholders, creating the project plan, structuring the budget, managing risks, structuring the booth with an event company, obtaining financial closure and structuring lessons learned documents.

Certifications

  • Challenge: obtain PMP and ACP PMI certifications.

  • Barriers: time.

  • Result: approved in both at first attempts.

  • Summary: In 2019 and 2020, I planned to acquire certifications in project management. For the first one (PMP), I invested around 6 months. The second one demanded less study time (3 months). I created several spreadsheets, read PMBOK 6th edition, and watched a lot of videos.
